Feel Good Film Festival
August 22 - August 24, 2008
Hollywood, California, USA |
The Feel Good Film Festival is a non-profit film showcase encouraging the development, production, and distribution of short or feature length films with happy endings, that make audiences laugh, and that capture the beauty of our world. When a film nourishes us, it sends us back into life smiling contagiously. We are seeking films that make a positive contribution to the world.
Live-action or animation, comedies or romantic comedies, fiction or non-fiction and films with happy endings are submitted to FGFF. More than just well made, the winning films will be nourishing and life affirming, entertaining, uplifting and heartwarming. Each submitted film may be hilarious or whimsical, may explore the human journey in a hopeful manner or be thought provoking encouraging personal change.
There will be a special area of focus for films produced, directed, or with contribution by children encouraging positive filmmaking from a young age. Winners in the “Student” category will receive scholarship funding.
Each film admitted to the festival will receive a Feel Good Rating, which defines the projected age and maturity level of audience members. FGFF will not be screening films that have overly-explicit sexual acts, excessive profanity or unnecessary violence. Films that condone racism, drug use and cruelty would also not find a place in this festival. Examples of previously produced “feel good” feature films include Juno, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Finding Nemo, It’s a Wonderful Life, Bowfinger, Bend it Like Beckham, Princess Bride, and Rudy.
The Feel Good Film Festival, held annually in August, showcases select family oriented feature-length films and shorts at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, California. We anticipate 7,500 attendees over the 3 day screening of 15 features and 20 shorts. In addition, we have competitions and monetary awards for Best Feel Good Feature Film, Short Film, Screenplay and Original Song made for film or video. There are also two submission categories for student filmmakers: under 16 years old and 17-21 years old. Select jury members will give inspirational speeches or conduct question and answer sessions and spotlighted film screenings will be followed by a nightly gala or party.
Organic & recycle friendly atmosphere.
