The Buckeye Stampede Pro Rodeo will again be held at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds in Dover. The rodeo, sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) will take place July 11 - 13, 2008.
The Buckeye Stampede Pro Rodeo will again feature professional cowboys and cowgirls competing in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, women's barrel racing, team roping and bull riding. The event also includes the Buckeye Stampede Challenged Rodeo for disabled individuals of all ages to come and participate in modified rodeo events and then stay for the first performance of the Pro Rodeo.

Benaroya Research Institute Triathlon at Seafair

In 2007, more than 2,200 participants took part in the sixth annual Benaroya Research Institute Triathlon at Seafair this morning at Seward Park. The “sprint distance” triathlon featured a 1/2-mile swim in Lake Washington, a 12-mile bike ride down Lake Washington Boulevard onto the I-90 express lanes to Mercer Island and back to the park, and a 3.1-mile (5K) run on the lower loop at Seward Park.
In addition, nearly 300 children participated in the PCC Natural Markets Kids Triathlon and it was a fantastic sight. With bikes flying and little ones running their hearts out, surely every triathlete in the making were proud to receive their finishers' medal.

Wells Fargo Torchlight Run at Seafair

This 8K run takes participants from Qwest Field up Alaskan Way on the Seattle Waterfront to Seattle Center and down the Torchlight Run parade route, just prior to the parade's start. 300,000 parade attendees line 4th Avenue each year to cheer on participants and claim their spot for the parade which starts just after the runners pass through the route. The post-race party at Qwest Field is a festive atmosphere on a typically beautiful warm Saturday night.

Aberdeen, MD has the honor of hosting the 9th Annual Cal Ripken World Series August 8th through August 16th!
This will be the 6th annual Cal Ripken World Series held in Aberdeen and the 3nd held at Cal, Sr.'s Yard, a miniature replica of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The youth stadium and its features are part of the Ripken Baseball Complex, a state of the art baseball facility located just off Interstate-95 between Baltimore and Wilmington DE.
A "baseball destination" is taking shape on approximately 110 acres that currently includes Ripken Stadium, home of the Baltimore Orioles minor league affiliate Aberdeen IronBirds, numerous youth baseball and softball fields, batting cages, and a one-of-a-kind training island. The Cal Ripken World Series will take place on professional quality youth fields modeled after Camden Yards, Memorial Stadium, Wrigley Field, and Fenway Park.
The Cal Ripken World Series is the culmination tournament of the Babe Ruth League's 12u Cal Ripken division. The international tournament is comprised of 16 teams of 11 and 12-year olds from all over the world!
The tournament path will lead 10 teams from regions across the United States- including the Pacific Northwest, Southwest, Ohio Valley, New England, Pacific Southwest, Midwest Plains, Southeast, Middle Atlantic, the Maryland State Champion, and the Harford County Champion- to the Ripken complex. Joining the 10 U.S teams will be 6 international teams from Australia, Canada, Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico and the Republic of Korea. This will be Japan's first appearance in the Cal Ripken World Series.

Our 30th annual race is the largest half marathon west of the Mississippi. It starts at the historic Cabrillo National Monument on Point Loma, with San Diego Bay on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. The course slopes downward to San Diego Bay, along the waterfront to the tall ship Star of India, through downtown, and ends in beautiful Balboa Park. Run the pristine Wasatch landscape amid the beauty of towering mountains, rolling hills, bursts of wild flowers on a friendly winding canyon road that gently descends to the Salt Lake Valley, and continues to show it’s beauty with the majestic Oquirrh Mountains across the plains.
The Half Marathon and the 1st member of the relay team both start under the Mt. Dell Golf Course Bridge. To the Start: Go on Parley?s Canyon, take the East Canyon Exit, and meet at the frontage road leading to Mountain Dell Golf Course. You can also go up Emigration Canyon to drop off relay team members. The canyon may be closed at the start of the race. Give yourself plenty of time.
The course goes up toward East Canyon, makes a left to Emigration Canyon, over Little Mountain, on to Sunnyside, makes a right on Arapeen Dr. and finishes in front of the Marriott University Park Hotel.
If entering the relay, it?s composed of teams of 3 runners. The first exchange will be the top of Little Mountain, second exchange at Ruth's Diner, third team member will take it to the finish. Teams are male team, female team, and mixed team.
This is a jewel of a course, with one hill at the start until reaching Little Mountain. From there the course descends to the finish.
Awards go 3 deep. Age groups will be broken down every five years starting with 14 and under to 70 and over. Relay teams awards will also go 3 deep.

5th Annual "Battle at the Lake" is an 8 team baskeball tournament with proceeds going to the Marvin Thomas Memorial Fund (www.marvinthomasmemorial.org). The weekend is composed of several events, developed to raise proceeds for kid's participation in summer fun recreational opportunities. Eight adult men's basketball teams comprised of semi professional basketball athletes, coaches and players will have an informal meet and greet to go over the tournament rules and regulations the night before. July 18-20th these 8 teams will compete with one another, outdoors in the Greenlake basketball courts for trophies and prizes.
While the teams compete, the audience can enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers and bid on silent auction items donated by area businesses and merchants or buy tickets for a variety of raffle items. Individuals can also browse informational booths set up by businesses, merchants and community groups.
The mission of the Marvin Thomas Memorial Fund is to provide positive, supportive and safe programs for children. We want to provide food, fun, educational opportunities, interactions and working relationships with the community and other agencies.
Our plans are to help our youth, start TEAM READ for students working to get better grades, support local youth groups, and put together sports clinics and events. We want to lend a helping hand and make a difference.

The BellSouth Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, held each year in July, is the largest kingfish tournament in the country. In addition to the two-day general tournament, this spectacular week-long event also includes an exclusive VIP Tournament and Junior Angler Tournament.
The annual event is a long-standing tradition and free event for residents of the Jacksonville area. Established in 1980, the GJKT combines the thrill of competition with a fun, family atmosphere. The best of local and regional music and artwork are set up on the Newport Riverfront on the banks of the Ohio River, within walking distance of the Newport Aquarium and the World Peace Bell Pavilion. Riverboat Row is transformed into a fine art and fine craft festival with live music in the air all day, both days. Exciting children’s activities and great food, too. Check out more than 50 fine arts booths with exhibitors demonstrating their skills, live music concerts on an outdoor stage and a "KidZone” tent with hands-on and educational exhibits.

As one of the top 100 tourist events in North America, this festival is a celebration of the life and culture of the Southwest Blue Ridge Highlands of Virginia. More than 100 exhibitors display their crafts in tents dotting the picturesque Barter Green. The Antiques Market, located on the campus of the Virginia Highlands Community College, is among the largest in the eastern US. Both shows are juried to ensure quality.

The Top Cat Cheerleaders are one of the main attractions each year at Panthers Party. The cheerleaders sign autographs, pose for pictures, and perform some of their dance routines on stage. Sir Purr, the Panthers team mascot, also creates quiet a stir as he mingles with the crowd, poses for pictures, and performs on stage. Panthers fans also have a chance to get their face painted, participate in Panthers Experience Games, or enter the Greatest Panthers Fan Contest, where they can win a pair of pre-season game tickets. The season highlights video is unveiled for the first time at the Panthers Party. The night ends with a bang as fireworks fill the night sky.

Held June 22-24, athletes, their family and friends converge on Central Oregon to take part in 11th annual event, which is expected to draw more than 4,000 athletes.
The Pacific Crest, which is known as the jewel of multi-sport events in the Northwest, has become a destination race for athletes from across the nation as well as Internationally.
The Pacific Crest Sports Festival includes the Half Iron Triathlon, Endurance Duathlon, Marathon & Half Marathon, Olympic Distance Triathlon & Duathlon, 5K & 10K Run/Walks, and a kid's Splash Pedal-n-Dash Triathlon & 1/2-mile and 1-mile dash. The Half-Iron Triathlon is the TRI NorthWest Long Course Championship. The marathon is a Boston qualifier.

Annual Pony Swim and Auction

The Chincoteague Annual Pony Penning always takes place the Last Wednesday before the last Thursday in July. The world famous Chincoteague Ponies swim from Assateague Island to Chincoteague Island (less then 1000 yards) on Wednesday at the first "slack tide". The first foal ashore is named King or Queen Neptune and is given away in a raffle later that day at the Carnival grounds. The Carnival opens immediately after the swim. Proceeds from this event fund the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company. Monies are used for maintenance3 and purchase of equipment and care of the pony herd. A free shuttle runs the day of the swim to transport the 40,000 attendees to the swim site. On Thursday, the 31st., there is an auction at the Carnival Grounds from 8:00am-12:00pm. The number of foals sold each year is determined by the Fire Company. The ponies are checked and cleared by veterinarians before being released to their new owners. The Carnival opens immediately after the auction.
